American Flag Color Changing Story Bags
Teach your class American
Patriotism with the American Flag Story bag. This American Flag Story bag is a trick bag that changes colors each time the bag
is turned inside-out. The colors are in the order of the main parts of the
story. As you tell the story, turn the bag and another color will appear.
The action grabs the audience's attention and holds it while you tell them
the story. It is a fascinating and surprising visual effect and
fun to use. Use this American Flag Story bag to encourage patriotism
as your audience hear stories about the flag, the meaning of its colors and
significant historical monuments and as you come back to the beginning you
will use the same colors to share the message of the cross. Preserved The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson. It declared independence from England in 1776. It is 29 3/4 inches long and 24 ˝ wide. Strong light and careless handling has caused excessive fading in America's founding document. If the document was to be preserved for future generations, steps had to be taken that would protect the document from further fading and destruction. It is enclosed by a glass and bronze case. The air was replaced by helium to protect it. The glass is tinted slightly green to protect it from light. An armed guard stands on both sides of the document. Each night the case is lowered into a concrete vault to ensure no one steals the document. God spoke to the Israelites giving them the ten laws to live by. They were frightened. God wrote them on tablets of stone. And Moses broke them when he saw the Israelites breaking God's oral laws. Oral instructions can be forgotten, paper fades and stone tablets can be broken. America wanted to preserve the Declaration of Independence for posterity. God wanted to preserve His laws for the protection and preservation of posterity. God had the perfect solution. Hebrews 10:16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them." God wants to write his laws in your heart, a perfect place to keep them preserved for all eternity. And when his laws are written in your heart they will preserve and protect you! © Copyright 2000 Let Us Teach Kids 1453 Otoes Pl.; Jacksonville, FL 32259 904 287-2869 www.letusteachkids.com. Ten Commandments Lessons for Children Vietnam Veterans MemorialWashington D. C. is a bustling center of activity. Laws that affect all of America are being made there. Government employees and tourist fill the streets and sidewalks. After work hours, the green areas of the mall (The mall is the grassy land between the Washington Monument and the Capitol lined with the Smithsonian museums.)is filled with team after team playing baseball. Dodging the ball and walking down the side walks to the monuments becomes a real obstacle course after normal work hours in the summertime. People are everywhere. Some are laughing and talking casually to friends, while others are hurrying home from work. Others are biking or jogging around the multitude of ball teams that are everywhere. It is amazing how they keep up with whose ball is whose, since they play so close together. The air is thick with excitement and activity everywhere. It is rush hour and the metros fill quickly.
As you continue down the grassy Mall, past the Washington Monument to the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial everything changes. Most people know it simply as “The Wall”. The wall has the names of over 55,000 Americans, who were killed in Vietnam. There’s almost a hush in the air. Flowers and mementos are placed in front of the names of precious loved ones and friends along the wall. Poems, letters, and trinkets line the wall. A metal army helmet displaying an American flag in a gapping bullet hole sat in front of one name. You could see tears in eyes as they touched the names of friends he had played with as a boy. Each name represented a son, a daughter, a husband, or a father. Each name represents someone dear and precious to someone, somewhere. There was a sense of awe in the air, a sense of gratitude and respect for the ultimate sacrifice that these men and women had given for America. They gave their very lives for freedom. More than names, much more than just a name—these were people, living breathing people.
The name of Jesus is more than a name. It represents the third person of the Godhead. He put on flesh. He lived and breathed and gave His life that you might have eternal life. God is the creator of all life. Would I dare as a creature made in His divine plan of creation curse His Holy name knowing what it represents. The Greek word anima (pronounced on’ om ah) means authority or character. His name is representative of who He is and what He stands for. Respect His name. Use His name with awe and respect. Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: {10} That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; {11} And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. © Copyright 2000 Let Us Teach Kids 1453 Otoes Pl.; Jacksonville, FL 32259 904 287-2869 www.letusteachkids.com.
