CD Here's a quick devotion to help your class
understand Psalms instruction to instruction Maybe you've done
it. Maybe you've thought about doing it, but don't it's bad manners. Wipe your hands on the
Thanksgiving table cloth. Don't do it. It's bad manners. Lick the turkey leg and put it back on the platter.
Talk with your mouth full. Gag and spit a mouthful of whatever
that concoction was your aunt brought back onto your plate. Dig in your nose and e... never mind I'm not going there. It's beyond bad manners. It's disgusting.
Eating a meal without saying "Thank
you" to the person that prepared it. Especially if that person happens to be your mom. Barge into your someone's house without
knocking or ringing the doorbell. Don't do it. Enter God's house without giving
thanks. Wait a minute! What? Where did that come from? Actually it comes from Psalms. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and come into His courts with praise.
Just like it is bad manners to barge into your neighbor's house without getting
their permission to enter. It is bad manners to enter God's house without giving
thanks. God doesn't have to do good things for
you. God doesn't owe you anything. Everything you have is given to you by God
because He loves you and wants to do good things for you. Our response should be
gratitude. If we are not very careful our response can be greed which often
leaves us with the feeling "is that all there is?" 1Ch 16:34 - Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures
forever. What do you say? Here's a short puppet skit that you can
use at Thanksgiving or anytime to encourage children to say thank you to people
and to God for gifts. Girl: I got you a present. Boy: Cool. I love presents. Girl: I saved all my allowance for the
past six months so I could buy this gift for you. Boy: Great. Are you going to give it to me
or not? Girl: Before I give it to you. I want you
to understand I did without a lot of things I wanted so I could buy you this
gift. Boy: So, are you gonna give it to me or
not? Girl: It's not a birthday or Christmas or
anything. I'm just giving you this gift because we are friends and I know you
really wanted it. Boy: Enough talk already. Give it to me.
(Grabs the gift. Pushes off the lid of the box and looks inside.) You know that
have a newer version than this. (turns and walks away) Girl: (Turns to the audience, shrugs her
shoulders. Drops her head in sadness and walks off.) Puppet of your choice enters the stage.
This puppet should engage the audience in conversation with the following
questions or similar questions. Hold everything. What is going on here?
Have you ever had something like this
happen to you? How did it make you feel? Have you ever done something like this to
someone? What should you do when someone gives you
a gift? Is there an appropriate way to express
appreciation for a gift that you didn't want? Does God ever give you a gift? Should we should our appreciation to God? How do we do that? Are there other things because gifts that
we should express thanks for? Music for Thanksgiving

Drop and roll to make this thanksgiving really special for your staff. If you want one year of prosperity, grow grain. If you want
10 years of prosperity, grow trees. If you want 100 years of prosperity, grow
people. –Chinese Proverb This is the
season to-- save time.
Let’s face it--the busiest season of the year has already
begun. Oh, I know you are way ahead of schedule, the Christmas musical is right
on track, the Thanksgiving turkey is in the freezer, your Christmas cards are
all hand made and addressed waiting for December 1 mailing and the Christmas
shopping is almost done. Well at least the first sentence was correct- the
busiest season of the year is here. Because there is so much to do now is the
time to think of ways to save time. Let me make some
suggestions that has worked for me. Plan ahead. Planning is the
single best way that I know to save time. Indecision is a huge time waster. Make
a list on something you can find later. A special notebook or a to do list in
Outlook if you prefer. Look at your list. Check off the list as you complete the
tasks. Can you print out your Christmas card list and write up your cards while
you wait for an appointment? Can you make a double batch of chili and put one in
the freezer to eat next month? Group tasks together. Run errands on the way from work
instead of having to get back out again. Plan your route so that you travel time
is efficient. Make a list of what you need at each place. Don’t try to do more than you can do. Being overwhelmed will drain precious
energy. Elizabeth Prentiss said it so well, "If you could once make up your mind in
the fear of God never to undertake more work of any sort than you can carry on
calmly, quietly, without hurry or flurry, and the instant you feel yourself
growing nervous, like one out of breath would stop and take breath, you would
find this simple common sense rule doing for you what no prayers or tears could
ever accomplish." What can you delegate? Can you take the shirts
to the cleaners for the month of December instead of ironing them? Can you hire
the neighbor boy to wash your car? Can you get a senior citizen or teenager to
make copies for you or run some errands? Look at your to do list. What can you delegate to someone else? What on your
list can only be done by you? Don’t skip your prayer time.
Suzanne Wesley understood the value of increased prayer during busy seasons in
her life. She recorded in her diary the feeling of being overwhelmed by the
duties of a large family during one of her pregnancies. She noted that she would
rise earlier so she would have more time to pray. You don’t save time by
skipping your prayer time. I know from personal experience when I spend time
with God He blesses the remaining hours in my day and helps me to accomplish
more. Ask God to help you establish proper priorities and live within the
boundaries of what can actually be accomplished in a twenty four hour period. Let Us help you with your next
teacher’s meeting. Take care of yourself.
Exercise even if you only have 10 minutes. Take vitamins including Vitamin C
which will help build your immune system. If you feel better you’ll work
better-smarter and longer. Eat right. Purchase fruits and vegetables, sugar
free, low fat yogurts that can be eaten on the run. Put leftovers in meal size
portions and put them in the freezer for those times when you want to eat
something in a hurry. Order gifts for children on your
shopping list from this website. Puppets and CDs make great gifts or
Stocking Stuffers. With Christian Music or books not only will you give them a
gift they will enjoy and really use, you’ll also be building them spiritually at
the same time. Use our curriculum to teach this Christmas. It will
save you time because it's all in there- stories, object lessons and puppet or
drama skits.
