One is the loneliest number

Andrew Grit began a workshop with an illustration of the many uses of an egg. Although an egg can be used in a cake, a meatloaf, or scrambled for breakfast, none of these describe the ultimate destiny of an egg. The destiny of the egg is to produce other chickens. Like a chicken, your ultimate destiny is to reproduce yourself in others. Yet, I see so many leaders trying to ‘wing’ it alone, frantically trying to get all the jobs completed.

Listed below are a few reasons leaders fail to use the talents of others.

Fear that a more talented assistant will replace them.

Fear that the leader won’t be the star.

Fear they will fail or won’t do it their way.

Fear that the assistant will quit if they have to work

Fear that they will lose control.

They have not trained and empowered the assistant to get the job done effectively.

They don’t know the assistants well enough to trust them.

They don’t understand the fulfillment that comes in helping others fulfill their destiny.
